Thanksgiving

The Best Thanksgiving
Starts Here

Browsing the computer this week I saw a Thanksgiving ad. There was an eye-appealing photo of a turkey, above the turkey, were photos of all the top of the line conveniences of a chef’s kitchen. Reading the title again, I thought of how easily the world can be enticed by pretty pictures and a few suggestive words. "Buy me, you'll have the best Thanksgiving Ever."

"Buy me, your table will be more elegant." "Buy me, you'll cut your cooking time in half!"

The spending frenzy then begins, and by the time the holidays are over, we're tired, broke, and depression knocks on the door. Oh, the lies of Satan!

How sad it is that we have come to the point it takes more 'things' to make the holidays special. What has happened to the true sense of giving thanks? God pours out his spiritual and material blessings on us and we continue to ask for more. Where is the balance?

The Prayer of Jabez has become a popular prayer, as well, it should be, and it is God’s Word. I Chronicles 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me. And God granted him that which he requested. KJV

Oh that you would bless me. (The Anointing) and enlarge my coast. (Open doors of opportunity that we might meet the needs of others.) And that thine hand might be with me. (To be led by the Spirit.) And that thou wouldest keep me from evil (protection) Today, there is more emphasis placed on the material blessings, and not enough on the spiritual. God does want to bless us materially. He has already promised to meet our needs, to comfort, watch over us, heal, and give us peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

This Thanksgiving, let us give thanks with a grateful heart, and as we do, meditate on God’s goodness, mercy, healing, grace, anointing, and love. Then, as we pray, let us wait expectantly to see the mighty works of the Lord.
Have a Blessed Day in the Lord

In Christ
