P.U.S.H
Recently, I received an email from a new friend that I met in college. He was asking me to be a part of P.U.S.H this means to PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS. This individual was asking for prayer and the Lord was allowing me to be a blessing to him by giving in prayer.

When you are going through difficult times and it seems like the Lord is nowhere to be found, and your prayers seem to be bouncing off of the walls do you reach out and ask your brothers and sisters to pray for you? The bible says that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (Ja 5:16). It also says that two are better than one (Ec 4:9-10). So the prayer of agreement is important.

In the book of acts the disciple James was killed and Herod decided to take Peter and put him into prison because he saw that it pleased the people. However, the church prayed in agreement for him without ceasing. The Lord answered their prayers by sending his angel to set Peter free before Herod could kill him. This was such an astounding answer to prayer that Peter was not sure that it really happened until he was completely out of the prison. Likewise, when the disciple Rhoda heard that it was Peter knocking at Mary’s front door, where they were praying, she was so amazed that she did not let him in the gate. She ran to tell the other disciples who were praying and they said that she was mad, or that it must be his angel (Ac 12:1-15).

Another spectacular story of the power of agreement was with Hannah who cried before the Lord because she could not have a child. Finally, she made a vow that if the Lord would give her a child she would give him to the Lord. Eli seeing her mouth moving but not hearing any words thought that she was drunk. When she shared with him that her heart was heavy and that she was asking God for a specific petition, Eli prayed in agreement with. Later on her petition was granted (1 Sam 1-21).

Some of the reasons that we may not ask for prayer is due to embarrassment, or fear of rejection. Whatever the reason do not allow the enemy to keep you from getting help through prayer. Your reputation is not as important as being free from bondages, areas of the flesh that hinder your walk with the Lord, or desperate needs that call for immediate attention. If you need to, ask the Lord to send someone who has experienced what you are currently dealing with. This will help you to open up your heart freely, and it will allow the other person to show empathy while sharing pointers on how to have the victory.

Secondly, when you pray are you praying until something happens? I remember there was one time that I worked as a cashier at a health food restaurant and I wanted to go back to school but my hours were flexible and my schedule changed constantly. I started praying to the Lord to give me these hours, Monday thru Friday from 8:00 to 5:00 I kept on praying for this schedule. Then the boss announced that there was an opening Monday Thru Friday from 8:00 thru 5:00 p.m. but he was giving it to another girl. I was furious, because I knew that the devil was trying to steal my blessing. The bible says that he comes to kill, steal, and destroy, so I had to get on my knees and continue to pray.

The bible says that the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, but the violent take it by force (Mt 11:12). Meaning that sometimes you have to take from the enemy what is rightfully yours. I claimed Gods word saying Lord I speak forth the things that are not as though they were and I command them to be so. I commanded the devil to take his hands off of my hours and bound him up. Then the supervisor announced that the lady was leaving and asked me if I wanted the hours. I politely took possession of what was mine all along. The bible says to not grow weary in well doing for in due season you shall reap if you faint not (Ga 6:9). I learned a valuable lesson on that day which has continued to help me in my walk with the Lord. The lesson is that sometimes you have to P.U.S.H in order to receive your blessing. 0:LA
